Character

It’s the first of the three traits my coaching practice is built on. That’s no accident. You can’t build a fortress on a shaky foundation.

We generally think about positive attributes when we ponder character; things like honor, courage and commitment - the Navy and Marine Corps core values. How can we keep only positive factors shaping our character and avoid their dark counterparts - disgrace, cowardice and infidelity?

  • Character, Competence and Clarity - shaping a leader’s legacy
    - Setting vision-based goals and reaching them with intentional value-based growth.

Why Telling the Truth is Easier (and less painful) Than Lying
    - Lying is often called the coward’s way out. In reality, it’s a one-way ticket to a hard life.

Iron Sharpens Iron - personal accountability in practice
    - Finding a trusted friend isn’t just a feel-good social move, it’s essential to legendary character.

We Will Not Lie, Cheat or Steal - the honor code of the US Naval Academy
    - What distinguishes the USNA honor code from its counterparts at the other service academies.
